Mist nets are used by ornithologists and bat biologists to capture animals in the wild, whether for banding or other research projects. These mist nets are made from 75/2 Denier/Ply nylon, with 4 shelves, 30 mm mesh (15x15 mm), and UV protection. They are 2.5 m high, allowing one net to be installed above another to achieve a 5.0 m system.

What is Denier/Ply?

The denier measures thread thickness: the weight in grams of 9,000 meters of thread. The lower the value, the more invisible the net becomes to the animal. The ply indicates the number of twisted filaments — this net uses 2-ply (multifilament), balancing strength and discretion. For bats, the ideal range is 50–75; for small and medium-sized birds, 70–100. Our 75/2 Denier/Ply net is suitable for both applications.
