The Solinst Readout Unit (SRU) is an in-field device designed to take and display instant water level readings from a deployed Solinst datalogger.
When connected, you can also select a real-time sampling rate and start a real-time monitoring session independent of the datalogger's internal logging mode. Real-time logs can be saved in the SRU memory.
The SRU has an internal barometer, which provides the option of showing and saving real-time water level readings corrected to ambient air pressure.
The SRU provides access to useful information about the connected datalogger's status, including battery level, memory, serial number, firmware version, and logging mode, as well as the SRU status.
The SRU connects to a Levelogger's Direct Read Cable, a LevelVent Wellhead, or AquaVent Wellhead connector cable.
Using push-buttons, it is easy to power-on and navigate through all SRU menu options. The LCD screen contrast is adjustable to ensure easy viewing in any field condition.
To transfer data files to a PC, the SRU connects using a USB cable. The SRU has upgradable firmware, which allows for future improvements and compatibility with new dataloggers. Note that separate Levelogger PC Software is used to download, view, export, delete data and set up dataloggers.

The SM4 features two built-in microphones, innovative scheduling tools, large data storage, and low power consumption – a unique combination of features that provide the longest deployment times of any acoustic recorder available.
Cabled acoustic microphones, acoustic hydrophones and a GPS option are available. The SM3/SM4 Power Adaptor Cable connects the SM4 to alternative power sources. NiHM batteries and high capacity SD cards are available as well.
The SM4 features entirely new, built-in microphones that create higher quality recordings than those from all previous Song Meter recorders. Alternatively to the built-in microphones, the SM4 includes two microphone ports – giving you the flexibility to record additional data from a cabled microphone; a new SMM-A2 cabled acoustic microphone, and/or hydrophone.
If you need to record two sources of audio at the same time, take advantage of the SM4's dual channel feature. Record in stereo or mono using the built-in microphones, or connect one or two cabled microphone/hydrophones. Adding additional runs of cable to the external microphone give you the ability to capture audio from far-off wildlife such as birds in the forest canopy, or frogs at a nearby pond.
The SM4 features new power circuitry that significantly increases deployment time over the SM3 – up to 400 hours of recording time using internal batteries. In Sleep Mode, between scheduled recordings, the SM4 uses almost no power, allowing it to remain idle for months – meaning longer deployments, and fewer trips into the field.

The most economical deep water marine bioacoustics and ambient noise recorder.
The new, 3rd generation Song Meter SM3M Deep Water is designed for extended deployments in extreme off-shore environments and offers the same recording flexibility and precision of conventional recorders costing much more.
With a recording bandwidth of 2 Hz to 192 kHz, it is ideal for recording ambient noise levels for baseline characterization and capturing loud noises, including anthropogenic sounds like those from pile drivers and airguns. Best of all this can be done with a single unit during the same deployment.
Program for multiple-role assignments
The SM3M Deep Water can be programmed to optimize for different recording objectives on the same hydrophone or two hydrophones using a flexible two-channel input. The recorder's configuration utility allows you adjust settings for sample rate, gain, filters, and triggers.
Should you need to monitor a variety of sea life in a single deployment, the SM3M Deep Water can monitor for multiple species’ acoustics from infrasonic to ultrasonic at the same time or by scheduling different sample rates at different times.
Deploy for several weeks or several months
The SM3M Deep Water is designed to record ambient, biological and anthropogenic sounds down to 1000 meters. Extreme depths typically involve longer-than-usual deployments and so the recorder features adaptive triggering and compression to further extend deployment times.

The SM3M Deep Water can be configured in a variety ways to meet your recording needs. We have selected an assortment of hydrophones for specific applications that meet strict performance criteria. The SM4 features entirely new, built-in microphones that create higher quality recordings than those from all previous Song Meter recorders. Alternatively to the built-in microphones, the SM4 includes two microphone ports – giving you the flexibility to record additional data from a cabled microphone; a new SMM-A2 cabled acoustic microphone, and/or hydrophone.
If you need to record two sources of audio at the same time, take advantage of the SM4's dual channel feature. Record in stereo or mono using the built-in microphones, or connect one or two cabled microphone/hydrophones. Adding additional runs of cable to the external microphone give you the ability to capture audio from far-off wildlife such as birds in the forest canopy, or frogs at a nearby pond.
The SM4 features new power circuitry that significantly increases deployment time over the SM3 – up to 400 hours of recording time using internal batteries. In Sleep Mode, between scheduled recordings, the SM4 uses almost no power, allowing it to remain idle for months – meaning longer deployments, and fewer trips into the field.
When deploying multiple recorders, use a single GPS accessory to automatically set the date, time and location settings of all recorders. The GPS accessory can also be attached to log the recording locations and path for mobile transects.
The SM4's new Quick Start menu and Scheduler feature are an industry first. The SM4 comes with out-of-the box recording programs; including daytime, nighttime, and continuous recording schedules. Simply choose schedule and press the Start button. The SM4's new Scheduler features makes it easy to create custom schedules that suit your exact needs.
The SM4 has two SD card slots that accept SDHC and SDXC cards. When fitted with two 512GB cards, the SM4 can store over a terabyte of data. In the future, when higher capacity cards come to market, the SM4 will store even more.
The SM4 features an integrated headphone jack to monitor activity in real-time.

The 6-Meter Standard Malaise Trap Model 3012 is a flight interception trap with dual wet/dry collection heads. The traps were originally developed by Drs. Gressitt and Gressitt (An improved malaise trap, 1962. Pacific Insects, 4:87-90) and we have been selling this trap for over 20 years worldwide. The fabric is sun-resistant polyester and all seams are double or triple stitched.
Where the trap is placed is not solely determined by what you intend to catch. Consider natural flight paths, for example, along the edges of fields and paths within forests. If applicable, place the trap perpendicular to the direction of flight, e.g., butterfly migration or the diurnal movement of mosquitoes to and from a wooded area (particularly see Gressitt & Gressitt 1962). Remember, the trap will catch good numbers anywhere, but moving it every few days will reveal better spots than others for a particular genus or species. A trap placed in a shaded area will collect more if one or both collecting chambers are placed in sunlight or towards the light part of the horizon. The instructions also provide references on how to bait the trap, e.g., CO2 for biting flies.
The optional alcohol heads are interchangeable and are constructed of acrylic and stainless steel. The heads withstand the use of isopropyl alcohol, which is commonly used to kill the insects before the specimens are damaged. The catch is removed by unscrewing the bottles hung beneath the angled collection heads.
