Here’s a nearly indispensable tool for sampling hard and soft bottoms. (You may not want to phrase it quite that way when leading your high school’s ecology club.) Drop our light-weight sampler into your river or lake and pull up smartly on the included line when it strikes the bottom. Or, use our optional sampling pole which attaches to the trip mechanism for shallow water.

Features include: cast stainless steel scoops and a large, easy to handle hinge pin. The center pivot closing action avoids distorting your sample.

Like our other Fieldmaster® equipment, this little grab is no substitute for the Ekman and Ponar® grabs in many protocols. But, for introducing your students to the nature of research, there’s none so effective as the “mighty” grab!
