Irrometer Model LT (Low Tension) – 12” Soil Moisture Tensiometer

The Irrometer Model LT (Low Tension) is specifically designed for use in coarse sandy soils and non-soil growing media such as peat, bark, sand, perlite, and vermiculite. It is also an excellent choice for any soil where moisture is managed close to field capacity.

This model features a durable Butyrate plastic body that is resistant to soil chemicals, along with a replaceable “Quick-Flo” ceramic tip that provides rapid response to changes in soil moisture levels. The hermetically sealed gauge measures from 0 to 40 centibars (kPa) in 1 cb increments for precise monitoring.

The gauge includes a membrane vent for improved temperature and elevation compensation, a large 2.5-inch diameter face for easy reading, and a rustproof stainless steel housing for long-lasting durability.

The ceramic tip features an O-ring seal and threaded design for simple field replacement. A large water reservoir with a screw cap maintains an internal water supply to compensate for moisture loss caused by drying soil. Partially unscrewing the cap releases air and refills the tube from the reservoir. All ceramic-to-plastic connections are guaranteed leakproof.

Irrometer fluid (included with the Service Unit accessory) adds color to the water for easy water level monitoring. The Model LT Irrometer requires the Service Unit accessory and the Soil Coring Tool for initial installation.
