Accuracy and Reliability with Solinst 107 Meters

Precise Measurement of Water Depth, Temperature, and Conductivity

Ideal for profiling conductivity and temperature in wells and open water, for saltwater intrusion studies, and as a general indicator of contamination levels. The 3/4" (19 mm) diameter probe is attached to the Solinst PVDF flat tape, laser-marked with precision every 1/100 ft or every millimeter. Lengths up to 1000 ft or 300 m, mounted on a Solinst reel.

The conductivity range is 0-80,000 µS/cm. Conductivity and temperature readings are displayed on a rotating LCD screen on the reel face. Conductivity accuracy is 5% of the reading or 100 µS (whichever is greater). A light and buzzer briefly activate when the probe's zero point enters the water. The water depth and depth of the displayed readings are read from the tape. The 9V alkaline battery is housed in an easily accessible battery drawer and provides up to 90 hours of use.

The Solinst Readout Unit (SRU) is an in-field device designed to take and display instant water level readings from a deployed Solinst datalogger.

When connected, you can also select a real-time sampling rate and start a real-time monitoring session independent of the datalogger's internal logging mode. Real-time logs can be saved in the SRU memory.

The SRU has an internal barometer, which provides the option of showing and saving real-time water level readings corrected to ambient air pressure.

The SRU provides access to useful information about the connected datalogger's status, including battery level, memory, serial number, firmware version, and logging mode, as well as the SRU status.

How the Solinst Readout Unit Works

The SRU connects to a Levelogger's Direct Read Cable, a LevelVent Wellhead, or AquaVent Wellhead connector cable.

Using push-buttons, it is easy to power-on and navigate through all SRU menu options. The LCD screen contrast is adjustable to ensure easy viewing in any field condition.

To transfer data files to a PC, the SRU connects using a USB cable. The SRU has upgradable firmware, which allows for future improvements and compatibility with new dataloggers. Note that separate Levelogger PC Software is used to download, view, export, delete data and set up dataloggers.

Based on ten years of continuous research and refinement, the SM2BAT+ is a critical tool for bat biologists and researchers. The SM2BAT+ is also one of the only commercially available recorders that features a configurable amplifier that allows you to simultaneously record any combination of bats, birds, frogs and marine life.

- Capture high quality recordings with the SM3-Microphone-To-SM2 Adaptor. Use the new SM3-U1 microphone (featuring the Knowles FG microphone element) with your SM2BAT+ and SM2 cables. The SM3-U1 is weatherproof, immune to electromagnetic interference, produces a flatter frequency response than the SMX-US and SMX-UT microphones and has a higher signal-to-noise ratio. Double your effective field coverage.
The SM3BAT is the only recorder that can simultaneously record in full spectrum at 256 kHz on two channels AND zero crossing on the same channels. It's like having two full spectrum and two zero crossing recorders in one box.

Should you need a higher sampling rate, the SM3BAT can sample in full spectrum up to 384 kHz on one channel. If you want more options for zero crossing files, the recorder has an improved zero crossing auto level and division ratios of 4, 8, 12 or 16.

Time is money and the SM3BAT was designed to reduce your cost of ownership. The SM3BAT has new power circuitry that increases deployment time by 50% over the SM2BAT+. Introducing a new generation of microphones.

The SM4 features entirely new, built-in microphones that create higher quality recordings than those from all previous Song Meter recorders. Alternatively to the built-in microphones, the SM4 includes two microphone ports – giving you the flexibility to record additional data from a cabled microphone; a new SMM-A2 cabled acoustic microphone, and/or hydrophone.

Two channels give you more recording flexibility.

If you need to record two sources of audio at the same time, take advantage of the SM4's dual channel feature. Record in stereo or mono using the built-in microphones, or connect one or two cabled microphone/hydrophones. Adding additional runs of cable to the external microphone give you the ability to capture audio from far-off wildlife such as birds in the forest canopy, or frogs at a nearby pond.

Capture months of acoustic data.

The SM4 features new power circuitry that significantly increases deployment time over the SM3 – up to 400 hours of recording time using internal batteries. In Sleep Mode, between scheduled recordings, the SM4 uses almost no power, allowing it to remain idle for months – meaning longer deployments, and fewer trips into the field.

Available GPS accessory to set clock and location.

When deploying multiple recorders, use a single GPS accessory to automatically set the date, time and location settings of all recorders. The GPS accessory can also be attached to log the recording locations and path for mobile transects.

The SM4's new Quick Start menu and Scheduler feature are an industry first. The SM4 comes with out-of-the box recording programs; including daytime, nighttime, and continuous recording schedules. The SM3BAT is compatible with SDHC and SDXC cards. There are four weatherproof SD card slots and with each card capable of storing 256 gigabytes of echolocation data. The new, weather resistant SMM-U1 ultrasonic microphone features high quality FG microphone elements that have improved signal to noise ratios and flatter frequency response over our previous microphones. Gain is applied at the microphone to increase signals in the cables (up to 100 meters) therefore reducing electrical noise interference. The result is higher quality recordings, even when the cables are run along side other cables on metrology towers or in wind turbines.

The new, 3rd generation Song Meter SM3M Deep Water is designed for extended deployments in extreme off-shore environments and offers the same recording flexibility and precision of conventional recorders costing much more.

With a recording bandwidth of 2 Hz to 192 kHz, it is ideal for recording ambient noise levels for baseline characterization and capturing loud noises, including anthropogenic sounds like those from pile drivers and airguns. Best of all this can be done with a single unit during the same deployment.

Program for multiple-role assignments
The SM3M Deep Water can be programmed to optimize for different recording objectives on the same hydrophone or two hydrophones using a flexible two-channel input. The recorder's configuration utility allows you adjust settings for sample rate, gain, filters, and triggers.

Should you need to monitor a variety of sea life in a single deployment, the SM3M Deep Water can monitor for multiple species’ acoustics from infrasonic to ultrasonic at the same time or by scheduling different sample rates at different times.

Deploy for several weeks or several months
The SM3M Deep Water is designed to record ambient, biological and anthropogenic sounds down to 1000 meters. Extreme depths typically involve longer-than-usual deployments and so the recorder features adaptive triggering and compression to further extend deployment times.

You can deploy for months at a time using a recording schedule or duty cycle with neglible power consumption during sleep mode.

Capture more than a terabyte of echolocation data
The SM3M Deep Water uses SDXC and SDHC cards. There are four card slots and with each card capable of storing 256 gigabytes of vocalization data. Combined with the SM3M's adaptive triggering and compression, storage capacity exceeds a terabyte. That means more data containing everything from the faintest drumming, clicks and whistles to the l baseline loudest anthropogenic noises.

Service and redeploy while at sea
The SM3M Deep Water is designed to be quickly serviced and redeployed shipside, saving valuable time and money. Simply unscrew the recorder's hydrophone cap with the supplied spanner wrench and pull out the pc board. SD cards can be easily accessed and the unit can be quickly reprogrammed for any changes in deployment objectives.

The SM3M can be quickly anchored and recovered via tether, diver or acoustic release.

Customize to suite your specific needs
The SM3M Deep Water can be configured in a variety ways to meet your recording needs. We have selected an assortment of hydrophones for specific applications that meet strict performance criteria. You can outfit the SM3M with our standing acoustic hydrophone, upgrade to either an ultrasonic hydrophone or low-noise hydrophone or choose our high SPL, dual hydrophone option.

Should you require more placement flexibility, you can special order cabled hydrophones as well.
