The Tag Line uses a weighted tag attached to a durable polyethylene-coated stainless steel cable, or flat tape, mounted on a rugged, standalone reel. Cable markings are precision laser-etched every 5 cm or 1/4 ft. Tape markings are every millimeter or every 1/100 ft.

The cable has a minimum break strength of 270 lbs (122 kg) and is available in lengths up to 984 ft (300 m). The tape has a break strength over 100 kg (220 lbs) and is also available in lengths up to 984 ft (300 m).

The weights can be clipped on and off the cable. This allows the marked cable mounted on the reel to be used as a support for precisely lowering data loggers, packers, bailers, pumps, or other sampling devices to specific depths in a well. The marked cable enhances sampling efforts and provides a secure suspension system that is easy to deploy and retrieve.
