The HydroMoth is a submersible acoustic recorder designed to capture sound in aquatic environments at depths of up to 60 meters. Based on the popular AudioMoth platform, it offers uncompressed WAV recording directly to a microSD card, allowing precise analysis of the captured sound. Its polycarbonate housing with a Velcro strap ensures durability and easy field attachment. It operates with 3 AA batteries and is ideal for monitoring marine wildlife, studying underwater noise, or conducting aquatic conservation research.
The AudioMoth underwater case was specifically designed for the HydroMoth and the AudioMoth version 1.2.0 (without the 3.5 mm connector). Other versions of the AudioMoth fit inside the case, but we recommend version 1.2.0 to minimize self-noise in recordings. The case is made of injection-molded polycarbonate and comes with an adjustable Velcro strap, making AudioMoth attachment simple and easy. Unlike the original AudioMoth case, this one does not include an acoustic membrane. The case is compact, highly durable, and will protect the AudioMoth for long periods of time at depths ranging from 30 to 60 m.

The SM3BAT is the only recorder that can simultaneously record in full spectrum at 256 kHz on two channels AND zero crossing on the same channels. It's like having two full spectrum and two zero crossing recorders in one box.
Should you need a higher sampling rate, the SM3BAT can sample in full spectrum up to 384 kHz on one channel. If you want more options for zero crossing files, the recorder has an improved zero crossing auto level and division ratios of 4, 8, 12 or 16.
Record up to 180 hours in full spectrum.
Time is money and the SM3BAT was designed to reduce your cost of ownership. The SM3BAT has new power circuitry that increases deployment time by 50% over the SM2BAT+. In short, the SM3BAT can record up to 180 hours of echolocation data in full spectrum and up to 700 hours in zero crossing on one channel. That means longer deployments and fewer trips into the field. (Note: the SM3BAT owner's manual has a detailed listing of battery life per battery type and recording format.)
Choose a schedule or create your own.
The SM3BAT comes with out-of-the box recording programs; including daytime, night time, and continuous recording schedules with automatic configuration. Just pick your desired schedule and press the Start button to begin making recordings immediately. Or, you can create customized, sophisticated schedules and settings to suit your exact needs.
Capture more than a terabyte of echolocation data.
The SM3BAT is compatible with SDHC and SDXC cards. There are four weatherproof SD card slots and with each card capable of storing 256 gigabytes of echolocation data. Combined with the SMBAT's adaptive triggering and compression, storage capacity exceeds a terabyte. That means more echolocation data containing vast amounts of echolocation detail.
Record in high fidelity using the new ultrasonic and acoustic microphones.
The new, weather resistant SMM-U1 ultrasonic microphone features high quality FG microphone elements that have improved signal to noise ratios and flatter frequency response over our previous microphones. Gain is applied at the microphone to increase signals in the cables (up to 100 meters) therefore reducing electrical noise interference. The result is higher quality recordings, even when the cables are run along side other cables on metrology towers or in wind turbines.
Expand the use of the SM3BAT.
The SM3BAT is the only bat recorder that allows you to simultaneously record any combination of bats, birds, frogs and marine life. The new SM3-H1 hydrophone allows you to record above and below the surface. So if your field assignment includes monitoring an assortment of wildlife, the SM3BAT saves you money with its flexible and easily configurable design.

The D500X is an ultrasound recording unit intended for long-term, unattended recording of bat calls. In contrast to time expansion bat detectors, the D500X records full-spectrum ultrasound in real time with virtually no gaps between recordings. The recorder is equipped with four slots for CF cards, which typically makes it possible to leave the unit in the field for more than a month. The triggering system allows the device to automatically start recording as a sound is detected.
The recording length can be selected in steps from 0.3 up to 20 seconds (or continuous in manual mode). In order not to fill the card too fast at locations with high activity, a minimum time between two recordings can be applied. The recorder is normally operated in a low-power mode with no pre-trigger (i.e. the recording starts as the sound exceeds the chosen threshold level), but both pre-and post-trigger functions are available in the standard (not low-power) mode. The D500X stores the bat calls in time stamped wav files.
The D500X comes in a rugged and weather-protected aluminium housing. A soft protection case with straps to hang the unit in e.g. a tree is included.
Various accessories are available, such as an external microphone with extension cable up to 100 m.
"I spent the past two weeks teaching back-to-back workshops that focused heavily on acoustics..... and (as always) the D500X out-performed all the other models combined in number and quality of calls. I think our students were mightily impressed and my mantra "you get what you pay for" has started to sink in. Nothing beats how easy and user friendly the D500X is to operate and how easy it is to post-process the calls and get on with the business of analysis. I'm hoping it will become the "go to" device for applications requiring the best sound quality available in a passive detector."
– Janet Tyburec, wildlife biologist and consultant, Tucson, AZ, USA.
