Building on the success and feedback from the Chorus and Anabat Swift, we developed a fully customizable, long-lasting wildlife recorder. The Ranger includes all the features you already expect from Titley Scientific recorders: rugged performance in demanding field conditions, easy to use, compact, lightweight, and with integrated GPS.

Choose from a wide range of microphones, including low-profile acoustic microphones with side-mount or front-mount options, and omnidirectional or directional ultrasonic microphones with front mounting – all weather-resistant, highly sensitive, and easily replaceable by the user in the field. Front-mounted microphones can also be installed with extension cables up to 100 m. Whether you want to record birds in stereo, frogs in the rain, bats on a pole, or all three at once, the Ranger is the ideal wildlife recorder for you.

Setup is simple; use our preset recording modes and the GPS will determine your location, as well as sunset and sunrise times, to record precisely when needed. No phones or external devices are required for setup – you can adjust the settings using the internal color touchscreen. It is easy to create complex multi-task schedules directly on the device or through the Toolbox scheduler integrated into Insight. Deploy the equipment for long periods with the capacity for 8 AA batteries (100 nights in ultrasonic mode or 700 hours in acoustic mode*), or use external power with or without solar panels for extended or permanent installations. The rugged, camouflaged housing features multiple mounting points for all types of attachments, from cable ties to camera tripod mounts or elastic straps; for greater security, you can purchase the security box and cable lock accessory.

You can choose from our user-replaceable acoustic and ultrasonic microphones. The Ranger features three channels (A, B, and C), allowing you to customize your microphone configuration to record: mono acoustic mode (1 channel), with low-profile side mounting or extension cable; stereo acoustic mode (2 channels), with low-profile side mounting; mono ultrasonic mode (1 channel), with front mounting, available in omnidirectional or directional options; or any combination of the above simultaneously, or according to a customized schedule. All microphones feature a high-performance element, with integrated low-noise preamplifiers, a low noise floor, and weather resistance.

*Battery life estimates in ultrasonic mode are based on 10% bat activity at 25°C and 10-hour recording nights at 320ksps, using 8 alkaline AA batteries. Battery life estimates in acoustic mode are based on continuous mono recording at 32ksps, using 8 alkaline AA batteries.
