Handbook of the Mammals of the World. Vol.6: Lagomorphs and Rodents I

Rats, mice, and their relatives in the order Rodentia make up nearly half of the mammal species. Due to this, we surveyed our readers, and the overwhelming response was to produce two volumes on rodents. Volume 6 will cover all rodent families except Cricetidae and Muridae, as well as the order Lagomorpha, which includes rabbits and pikas. This radiation includes around 35 families that have spread worldwide, occupying all continents except Antarctica, and numerous islands in all major oceans. As always, the text includes up-to-date information on each species, with each species illustrated. Each family account includes color photographs documenting a variety of behaviors of these diverse and interesting mammals.
