AudioMoth Applications

The AudioMoth Configuration App is an easy-to-use tool to customize your AudioMoth devices. Once your device has the latest firmware, this is the only app you'll need.
With it, you can schedule recording periods, customize recording level and sampling rates, as well as estimate the approximate device lifespan given a configuration.

AudioMoth Flash App

The AudioMoth Flash App is used to easily flash your AudioMoth with the latest firmware. Keep your AudioMoth up-to-date by downloading and applying firmware through this app.
It can also be used to flash devices with their own custom firmware.

AudioMoth Time App

The AudioMoth Time App is a simple tool to set the internal time of a device.
It will set the time and provide information about the device, such as the unique ID, current battery level, and a description of the firmware, even when custom firmware is installed.
For devices using standard firmware, the Time App can be used to set the time before deployment, without changing any other configuration details.

Step 1: Get Batteries and SD Card

To use your AudioMoth, you first need to acquire the appropriate batteries and SD card for your deployment. Cards of 32GB or less are usually supplied formatted with the MS-DOS (FAT32) system. Cards over 32GB are typically supplied formatted with the exFAT system.

Step 2: Insert Batteries and SD Card

After acquiring the appropriate batteries and SD card, set your AudioMoth to the CUSTOM position and insert them into your device.

Step 3: Set the Switch to USB Mode

Set the switch on the side of the device to USB/OFF.

Step 4: Configure with Your Platform's Configuration App

Download the configuration app for your desired platform from the applications page. Once installed, configure the device following the steps in the configuration app usage guide.

Step 5: Deploy the Device

With the AudioMoth configured and the switch in the CUSTOM position, you can now deploy it.

If the batteries are removed, you can use the AudioMoth smartphone app to set the time without a laptop.

While waiting for a recording period, the green LED will blink. While recording, the red LED will blink.

With the switch set to DEFAULT, AudioMoth will start recording immediately outside the configured recording schedule, either with the default settings or with the previously established configuration. AudioMoth will record a single continuous WAV file in DEFAULT.

The default setting is 48kHz and medium gain.
