This is one of the best quantitative samplers for benthic invertebrates, designed for you to use in shallow flowing rivers of moderate current with fine, loose sediments. Its main advantages are portability and ease of use. The filtering area is large enough for you to insert your entire hand to remove specimens. Two pivoting solid stainless-steel frames and lockable brace latches hold the frames at a perfect right angle to each other. The net is made of high-quality Nitex® bolt cloth with taffeta wings for maximum durability.

Designed for Large Samples in Soft Bottoms with Pinch-pin™ Automatic Release Mechanism

This dredge is designed for you to take large samples in soft bottoms. Its long lever arms and sharp cutting edges on the bottom of the scoops allow you to cut deep into softer substrates. Safety is ensured by using our patented closing mechanism, the self-releasing Pinch-pin™, which keeps the dredge open until it hits the bottom. Upon impact, the tension on the chains is released, activating the Pinch-pin™ and allowing the scoops to close firmly as you lift the cable.

The top of each scoop is protected by a stainless steel screen that allows water to flow through during descent and is covered by a neoprene flap to prevent the sample from washing out during retrieval. For operation, you will need a 1/8" cable and a winch.
