The Combined Plate Chamber is a standard manufacture fitting virtually any type of inverted microscope.
As described in UNESCO's Phytoplankton Manual (published 1978) the Combined Plate Chamber allows you to look at sedimented plankton samples from a very short distance. How? Put the sample into a cylinder on top of the rectangular plexiglass plate with a thin base plate, let the fixed plankton concentrate and after sedimentation simply push the cylinder with excess liquid aside. The handling support underneath the plate will collect the extra water from the cylinder. You can now take the plate and examine the sample under an inverted microscope. Three calibrated cylinder sizes are provided with each set allowing to analyze different sample volumes.
The basic kit includes a set of cylinders 10 / 50 / 100 ml. Complete with cover plates, also base plates and handling support. The complete kit includes in addition a cylinder of 25 ml, and additional cover and base plates. Items can be purchased separately too.
The Base Plate Set, includes the Base Plate, the Threaded Ring and the Ring Detacher.

Intended for shallow or deep waters, these bottles are called “horizontal” because they descend, parallel to the bottom. They are pulled sideways just before closing by the operator, which ensures a representative water sample for that specific depth. They are ideal for sampling at the thermocline, at other stratification levels, or just above the bottom sediments. These popular and versatile bottles come in your choice of transparent acrylic or opaque PVC. PVC is more durable and less costly, but the acrylic allows you to view the bottle contents immediately.
Designed for trace metal sampling. Also may be used for organic sampling to concentrations of mg/L. When running metal, organic, or any other chemical analyses, it is best to run a blank on the sampler prior to use.
This bottle is excellent for near off-shore (to 200 m) trace metal sampling, since there are no metal parts to touch your sample. You avoid the metallic ion contamination that can cause major errors in algal assays or productivity. Beta Van Dorn bottles have rigid, white plastic end seals for clean sealing. The bottle ends are machined to fit foam silicone gaskets. Amber latex tubing, which does not leach measurable amounts of metal, closes the bottle. Beta™ bottles feature a nylon safety line connecting the end seals, so if the closing tube breaks, you’re less likely to lose your expensive seals. This is why Beta bottles have an excellent track record in a wide variety of field conditions.
This sampler requires a messenger and line (included in kits) for operation. It is not suitable for series sampling. A thermometer can be mounted inside acrylic Beta bottles.
NOTE: Volume may vary slightly. It is recommended that you verify the exact volume of your bottle prior to use.

ICES standard for phytoplankton primary production measurements.
One of the most important marine processes is the formation of organic material resulting from the interaction of carbon dioxide, water and sunlight, a process known as photosynthesis. The ability to measure this process is of great importance when assessing marine pelagic systems. In practice the best way to measure photosynthesis is to look at the absorption of carbon dioxide. The high sensitivity of carbon dioxide absorption measurements allows to use this method under all circumstances. Neither low or very high algal concentrations nor low light conditions and low temperatures are restrictions for this method.
Based on the 14C method, using the absorption of the radio-active 14C isotope of carbon (Steemann-Nielsen, 1952), the ICES Incubator is the ICES standard for phytoplankton primary production measurements. The incubator shown here has been mainly developed for monitoring purposes. It should be used preferably for water samples taken from a mixed water layer with a fixed temperature. Measurements of the amount of phytoplankton (based on chlorophyll-a concentration measurements) should be carried out for interpretation purposes.
The ICES Incubator consists of an illuminated transparent plexiglass tank incorporating a turning wheel on which 12 experimental bottles can be clamped. The tank is filled with water which is set in motion by an adjustable circulating pump. Thus the turning wheel is set in rotation at speeds up to 10 rpm with the experimental bottles acting as paddles. Tank connections for a second water circulation allow for temperature adjustments of the water by using external tempering equipment.
The 12 experimental bottles of 50 ml capacity each have different optical coatings, so that each bottle has individual transmission rates and thus generating a number of 12 different irradiance (or light intensity) levels. The illumination unit is equipped with 10 fluorescent tubes with a wave spectrum according to ICES specifications, each can be switched individually. For higher irradiance levels a second illumination unit can be mounted onto the ground plate of the ICES Incubator.

This economical water level indicator is ideal for measuring the water level of wells, bore holes, and standpipes. It signals when water is reached with accuracies to 1/100" of a foot or 1 mm. We use a high quality polyethylene tape, indeibly heat stamped with markings in engineering scale. The tape is reinforced with Kevlar fibers and flexible enough to wind smoothly onto the nylon reel and hangs straight in the well. No on/off switch is needed since, when contact is made, the water shorts the probe to complete a circuit.
Buy with confidence knowing that your quality water level indicator tape will perform over the long term. It is backed by a three year warranty.
The Tape: Kevlar reinforced polyethylene dog bone section with stainless steel conductors. Lengths up to 100 m are available.
The Probe: A 6 mm (5/8”) diameter, 19 mm (7 ½”) long probe of stainless steel and Teflon. The probe has no holes or recesses which might trap contaminants and is water tight to the full depth of the tape. An optional non-submersible 3/8 inch diameter probe is available upon request. (Note:The 3/8” (10 mm) probe should not be used to sound the well).
The Electronics: The fully encapsulated circuitry is protected against dirt and moisture.
The Reel: A tough nylon or aluminum reel mounted on a sturdy powder coated steel frame. A soft vinyl hand grip, ergonomic reel lock and casing hangar are seamlessly incorporated in the frame.

The dipper-T water level meter is designed for well drillers, consultants and hydrogeologists all across the globe. The dipper-T is manufactured for professionals who require the most accurate measurements of water levels, length of well-casing and total well-depth.
The Heron dipper-T is renowned for its premium, polyethylene coated yellow steel tape accuracy in measuring depth to water. Available in your choice of either metric or engineering scale.
The dipper-T water level meter can be conveniently converted to a multi-functional instrument, not only able to measure static and falling head levels, but also to determine the length of casing and well depth. The water level sensing probe can be easily removed at the link connection and substituted with either the Well Casing Indicator Probe or Well Depth Indicator Probe. The FOUR FUNCTION capability of the dipper-T water level meter makes this unit an asset to groundwater professionals and rural property owners during the construction of new wells, maintaining wells or decommissioning abandoned wells.
Static mode is used for measuring the depth of water in wells, boreholes and standpipes. DrawDown mode is used for measuring falling water levels during purging, well development and for low flow sampling.
The Well Casing Indicator Probe (Sold separately) is used to measure the depth of metal casing in wells and boreholes from two inches in diameter and upward. The Well Casing Indicator Probe works using magnetism. While the probe sits within the magnetic field of the steel casing, an auditory and visual signal is active. When the probe leaves the magnetic field the signal stops. Note the condition of the well for accurate readings. Recommended Use: New Construction Only (Old/Imperfect casing may cause false or inaccurate readings when using this probe).
The Well Depth Indicator Probe (or bottom detector; Sold separately) is used to measure the full depth in wells and boreholes. The Well Depth Indicator Probe uses a pressure sensitive plunger to measure the distance to the bottom of the well. When the Well Depth Indicator Probe reaches the bottom of the well, the plunger enters the probe body closing a switch, initiating an audible and visual signal at the top of the well.
It is the User's responsibility to ensure chemical, temperature, radiative, and shock compatibility with their site(s) before, during and after deployments. Not doing so will void any and all warranties.
